WRITING

words, images, ideas, musings
Trust the flow
I made a healing chime for myself. I became the person who needed it most I figured, after getting very sick in early October.
The imprint of effortless flow
Sometimes flow doesn’t happen when we try and instead is the imprint of effortless flow when we don’t try…
The pilgrim
Maybe it was the leaf that was the pilgrim – showing up from long ago to now, and the now leaf mirroring back to the one from long ago.
Nature’s gifts
Nature is often trying to catch my attention. And so I listen and gently receive her gifts.
The sound of leaf and seedpod characters
When the jostling around settles and stills, each character finds its place in the word/sound to say what they can only say together, in combination.
Accentuating what’s already there
To accentuate, to give that hint of vibrancy, is to remind us of what’s possible and to reveal what’s already there.
Unraveling and fraying
What’s possible when we let go of tightness and let air flow between the new spaces we’ve created.
The marks a fabric brush makes
Sometimes it's the entire creative process that's the most interesting thing, not just the final outcome.
Wands and so much more with little (and big) kids
How materials from the earth, from near and very far, brought my family together one sunny afternoon.
Making brushes
I feel these handmade brushes are not afraid of getting messy, and not afraid of their wild side in making marks…
Painted leaves
First inspired by a friend’s gift, then carried forward as a gift to other friends… it’s as simple as feeling special.
Intimacy in work
“Work, among all its abstracts, is actually intimacy, the place where the self meets the world…” ~ David Whyte
Tree branching out
When the creative process branches out – to see another view, then returns, more attuned to our core again, we are changed.
The wisdom of disappointment
It was disappointment that was most telling. It reminded me to be true to myself as I am now, not what I thought I was, or how I once was.
Banana tree mark making
What happens when you share a photo of banana stalks to a friend, and it turns into an afternoon of expressive mark making together.
Falling in Love with Laos
She was afraid to fall in love again — with a country, its culture, its people.
Hemp elm healing chime
Sometimes we’re a little crooked and just need to be realigned. The story of a healing chime’s own healing.
Restless waiting
Restless came to visit me, with her shadowy friends Worry, Fear, and Doubt. She’d come before and I had ignored her. This time, I couldn’t.
